The painting “Mike’s Pool Hall” was inspired by the original Hall that stood at the corner of Sycamore and Cypress in the City of Orange California. Legend has it; in the mid 30’s meetings of the Orange Citrus Picker’s were held there, in which some meeting of potential strikes were interrupted by police raids. In the 40’s and 50’s it was the local hangout for Pachucos, and dubbed as a wedding and a party hall.

The men in this painting are fictional caricatures of, Emigdio (him self as a young man) his son Emigdio jr. and likeness of his comrades from the neighborhood.
